What is CrossFit?
Crossfit is a
fitness regimen that was created in the U.S by coach Greg Glassman. CrossFit is
described as "Increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains"
The CrossFit program allows us to optimise our fitness by performing constantly
varied, functional movements executed at high intensity, which includes elements of Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Powerlifting, rowing, kettlebells, body weight movements and much much more . The program we
follow looks to improve the ten key physical skills:
10. BalanceAt its core, Crossfit is concerned with improving an individuals general physical preparedness (GPP). An ability to take on unknown and unknowable tasks safely and efficiently.
Do I have to be fit to start CrossFit?
In short, no. All you require is a positive attitude and the willingness to work hard and follow coaches instructions. Everything from weights, repetitions, distances, duration and intensity can be adapted to suit any individual or level of fitness.
Whats an Intro Course? and why do I need to do one to start?
We ask that all new members with little or no CrossFit experience complete an Intro Course. Our Intro Course is designed to take you through all of the fundamental movements we do in CrossFit, so that you can learn how and why we do things and also to teach you how to perform these moments safely. An Intro Course will be required at any reputable CrossFit or Functional Fitness gym worldwide. At OzBox we feel this is a safe and responsible way of looking after the health, wellbeing and athletic potential of new members.
What is open gym?
Open gym is an area of our gym where you can come in and do your own workouts without taking part in a class. We have a separate area for open gym at OzBox so it is open to use the majority of time. Check out our timetable for more details.

OzBox is somewhere you can come and meet new people, experience a new way to exercise and move your body in a way that you never thought possible! We have members from all ages from 18-60+, everyone gets involved, has lots of fun and laughs! We regularly hold OzBox social events through-out the year and also go support our members who enjoy the odd competition or two!
